While
I have been designing and building wooden boats for the
last 30 years and have most likely drawn literally
thousands of pages of technical drawings, there has been
a strong desire for me to find a way to express my "bit
of Art" so to speak!
So in late 2005 I made some phone calls and found artist
Chris Brown of Olympia. On my first meeting with Chris
he asked me what I wanted to do with "watercolors" and I
replied "I want to paint boats" so matter-of-factly that
it startled me. It never occurred to me to paint
anything else.
The paintings that are exhibited are all on a theme and
all of them tell a different story about my life with
boats...I hope that you find them as enjoyable to look at
as they were to paint... I find that putting either pen or
brush to paper is a very amazing process and the idea of
bringing out of a blank piece of paper something that
feels as strong as a good drawing or painting is simply
magic!
