Nancy's China Sailboat & Trailer |
Posted: 20-Jun-2008 |
|
|
Nancy's China is one of Sam Devlin's stitch and glue designs. This boat was built by a WoodenBoat School class taught by Sam. The sail rig, traveler, and other features were added by the current owner.
This particular boat was sprit rigged, and had an 18', 30 lb., un-stayed, solid wood mast stepped through the deck.
The current owner changed this to a gaff rig using spars of carbon fiber tubing with wooden ends. The mast is still un-stayed, but is now stepped on deck in an aluminum tabernacle that
the current owner made. (More details on these changes can be seen in the Spring 2004 issue of The Ash Breeze, or
on our Builder & Owner Testimonials
page.
To simplify sail handling, the jib has roller furling; and throat and peak halyards are lead to the cockpit. Harken X-Treme Angle Fairleads® for jib sheet cam cleats allow the sheets to be adjusted from the windward side. A new stainless steel traveler keeps the main sheet block from hitting and damaging the boat. An electric trolling motor provides silent, easy to use auxillary power.
Asking Price is
$7,900 dollars---condition is excellent.
She is
located in Port Townsend, Washington.

| “Serendipity”
Twin Diesel Powered Czarinna 35’ Cruiser |
Posted: 26-Apr-2008 |
|
|
This extremely well
found vessel is one of our popular “Czarinna 35”
pilothouse style cruisers, capable of cruising waters
on either coasts. She has cruised 3 times to Alaska
and back averaging 2.1 gallons of fuel per hour and
7.5 knots over the bottom. I delivered her
back from Southeast Alaska on one trip and our total
running time was 112 hours for the journey (only 4
hours more running time than a 41ft. Sockeye did on
the same journey). Power on the
“Serendipity” are twin 3GM Yanmar diesel engines
located below the settees in the main salon port and
starboard sides. She has over 100 gallons of
fuel in 3 tanks and the range is an easy 300 plus
nautical miles. Engine controls are electronic
and she has cockpit engine controls in addition to
the pilothouse. Most maneuvering in tight conditions
is done from the aft station using only the engines
to steer her.
The cabin is entered thru a centerline doorway with
head compartment on the starboard side and separate
shower/wet gear locker on the port side. Forward of the
shower on the port side is a propane
bulkhead fireplace and a 7ft. long settee. Opposite the settee is a fore and aft dinette table
with room for four to dine. The table top
retracts down to make this space into a double
berth and the settee opposite is a comfortable
single berth. The galley is forward of the
settee and dinette area and on both sides of the
boat with a 2-burner propane range, below counter
refrigerator, and a sink to round out keeping the
crew happy and well fed.
Fixed helm and co-helm seats round out the
pilothouse with visibility excellent thru 5 large
tempered safety glass windows, 3 of them opening
type. Extra light and ventilation is also accessed
thru a large opening sky-light hatch in the cabin
roof above the salon.
Forward in the fo'c'sle is a large double berth and
locker. Bookshelves and hanging lockers for
gear round out the forward berth area with another
opening skylight hatch over the flush forward deck
and (2) opening portlights in the hull sides for
extra light and ventilation. The seating in the main
salon is all dark green leather and the fit and
finish of this boat is superb! The hull is dark
green urethane paint with beige decks and red
anti-fouling paint. Electronics package
is very complete with Radar, Autopilot, Depth and
Speed, Vhf, GPS and Chart-Plotter. Other
highlights are a stainless steel bow pulpit, and a
electric anchor windlass, and a “Polliwog” dingy on
davits aft at the fantail stern.
Asking Price is
$195,000 dollars---condition is excellent---engine
hours 2,145 (they were completely gone thru and
serviced in 2005).
This is an extraordinary
vessel with replacement cost for a comparably
equipped boat in the $340,000 range. She is
located in Olympia, Washington

| “Moonglow” Diesel Powered Black Crown 29’ Cruiser |
Posted: 24-Apr-2008 |
|
This extremely well found vessel is one of our popular
“Black Crown” sedan-style cruisers capable of cruising waters on either
coast with passages possible such as a cruise from Washington to
Alaska and back with 4 people aboard. On that trip the average
speed was 15.4 knots and the “Moonglow” burned 5.1 gallons of
fuel per hour. Power on the “Moonglow” is a 200-hp. Volvo Penta Diesel engine with duoprop sterndrive, with a top speed
of 23 knots and a very comfortable and economical cruising speed
of 15-18 knots. Draft is kept to a minimum with the sterndrive configuration and the boat is beachable.
Cruising range with her 145 gallons of diesel tankage is around
350-500 nautical miles (depending on speed). Engine controls are
electronic and steering is hydraulic with control stations both
in the main cabin and in the cockpit. A swim step on the
stern holds a 8’6” “Devlin Polliwog” dingy, which easily holds
the crew for trips to the shore. Cockpit is large with
walk back to the stern on either side of the engine cowling, and
room for a couple of deck chairs if desired.
The cabin is entered thru a centerline doorway with Head
compartment on the Portside and separate Shower on the Starboard
side. Galley is forward of the Shower with a 2-burner
propane range, below counter refrigerator, and sink rounding out
for keeping the crew happy, and well fed. To port is a fore and
aft dinette just forward of the head. Fixed helm and
co-helm seats complete the main cabin, with visibility excellent
thru 9 large tempered safety glass windows, 2 of them opening
type, extra light and ventilation is also accessed thru a large
opening sky-light hatch in the cabin roof.
Forward in the fo'c'sle is a large
double berth with bookshelves and hanging lockers for gear
rounding out the cabin. There is a large opening skylight
hatch over the berth and (4) deadlights in hull sides for
additional light. Additional sleeping is in the dinette with
table hinged down another double berth is made up. The seating
is all marine fabric of Southwest Indian motif, and the
fit and finish of this boat is superb! The hull is white
urethane paint with gray decks and red anti-fouling paint.
Electronics package is very complete with Radar, Autopilot,
Depth and Speed, Vhf, GPS and Chart-Plotter. Other
highlights are a stainless steel bow pulpit, bronze anchor
windlass, and propane cabin forced air furnace.
Asking
Price is $145,000 dollars---condition is very good---engine
hours are below 100 on rebuilt engine (2008) This is an
extraordinary vessel with replacement cost for a comparably
equipped boat in the $205,000 range. She is located in
Olympia, Washington.
