Good afternoon, Scott.

As I promised you, I shall tell a little about myself. I am 49 years old, live in Saratov, on the river Volga. Here are the coordinates of the yacht clubs where my boat is kept: N 51 34.506 E 46 14.914

My basic business is the manufacture of PVC windows and doors and I still take a great interest in boating. I have a small shipyard where we make fiberglass boats up to 6 m in length with outboard motors. I have experience in the construction of a steel displacement trawler vessel. It launched on water 2 years ago. Now it is on the Mediterranean sea.

We have very hot, but short summers and cool springs and autumns. The ice descends in April, and the river in freezes in November or December. Therefore I wanted a boat with a hard - top (sedan) so the season on water was longer.

When I searched for the project of a vessel, I wished to build a boat of steel.. For boats the size of more than 8 meters, it is very widespread and habitual technology for us but it would be not a planing boat. But then I found your site on the Internet and I took great interest in the Black Crown 30. I decided to try plywood construction which is new to me. 4 people worked on this boat who had never built a boat of plywood and epoxy resin but all has turned out well.
For painting, a boat expert who learned to paint on my previous steel boat was invited to join the project and it went very well.

Weighing the boat on a scale has not worked out but having calculated its underwater volume, I estimate the weight to be about 3500 kg. I installed a petrol engine: Merkruiser - 6.2 litres and 320 h.p. with a max speed of 31-32 knots and a cruising speed of 23-24 knots. But the propeller is not picked up (adjusted) correctly and the pitch should be reduced.
