February 26, 2011 -- New Boat Plans! -- Sam has produced a new 17 ft cat yawl motorsailer design called the Litl Coot, now available in both Metric and American study and construction plans. February 15, 2011 -- New homebuilt Surf Scoter 22! -- 18 years in the making, Randy Grey of British Columbia, Canada has finally last launched his labor of love and taken it out for a week long cruise. On display this Mother's Day weekend, May 8 -9, will be wooden boats of all sizes and types, new and old, power and sail, row boats, dinghies, kayaks and canoes. It's held at Percival Landing in downtown Olympia and you'll find Sam and his boats along along the boardwalk below the Budd Bay Cafe. Please come visit us! April 25, 2010 -- Sam Devlin - Designer, Builder, Tinkerer. Read this profile of Sam by Dieter Loibner in the May 2010 issue of Soundings on our Reviews and Articles page. April 25, 2010 -- Registration for a boat building class with Sam in September is now open! In this class students will build a Peeper, a 12’ rowing skiff of Sam's design. The class will start with basic lofting and setting up and move on to taping the interior with cloth and epoxy. The class will then sheath the exterior of the boat and apply the trim and the finishing hardware. The class will take place at the Devlin Boatshop in Olympia. Please call Edel O’Connor at The Center for Wooden Boats for more information at 206-382-2628 Ext. 30.

An article by George Sass Sr. in which he writes about people returning to simpler boats with less systems to spend more time boating rather than doing maintenance projects. Sam will be teaching classes in 2010 in Brooklin, Maine at The WoodenBoat School on June 20 - 26 and at his shop in Olympia, WA through The Center for Wooden Boats on Sep 27 - Oct 1. August 2, 2009 -- Devlin Goes Metric! We are now offering some of our plans in Metric format as well as the normal feet and inches format. Some of these designs are new to our Catalog as well. They are as follows:

We are committed to offering "Devlin Designs" in both formats and will be working hard to convert existing drawings to the Metric format in the future. You will note in the Devlin Store the ability to select either formats for these boats.

May 30, 2008 -- I am leaving for a boat
delivery of the "Ellie K", one of my
Kokanee 38 boats, up to Alaska on the 1st of June and should
be back in the office on June 23. The shop and office are still
open for normal business but my e-mails might not get answered
for the duration of the trip since e-mail service is kind of
lacking up North! Lee has pledged to man the phone from 8 to 10

-- After many years of fine
service, our webmaster, Joel Mill, is stepping down from the
daily duties of running devlinboat.com to a simpler life of just
working in the shop and having some spare time to spend with his
family.
In the next couple of months you will see many changes and we
hope you will continue to enjoy devlinboat.com with its new look
and feel. We are going to rebuild our web-store and the shopping
basket will be enhanced. --
